Core Truth:How often must our Lord still be surprised and saddened by the ingratitude of those for whom He has done so much, while those who understand how desperate their need was and how graciously He has met that need can never thank Him enough.
Scripture: Luke 17:11-19
When Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem, He was going along between the border of Samaria and Galilee: and, as He entered a village, then lepers, who stood far off, met Him. They lifted up their voices and cried out, ‘Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!’ When He saw them, He said, ‘Go, and show yourselves to the priests.’ And as they went they were cleansed (their leprosy disappeared!). When one of them saw that he was cured, he came back to Jesus, glorying God with a loud voice. He fell flat on his face at Jesus’ feet and kept on thanking Him. And this man was a (despised) Samaritan. Jesus asked, ‘Were not ten cleansed?’ Where are the nine? Does only this foreigner return to give glory to God?’ And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go; your faith has made you well.”
